A Program for Junior and Senior High School Girls Interested in Careers in Public Service
GovTrek is a project of the Carlsbad-Oceanside-Vista (COV) branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW). AAUW’s mission is to advance equity for women and girls through research, education and advocacy. The COV branch believes the best way to fulfill that mission is to encourage more young women to consider a career in public service. GovTrek is a 6-month (1 session per month) program that will feature female legislators or their staff discussing current issues at the local, state and federal level, followed by hands-on activities by participants. The program will culminate in a conference with workshops and the offer of internships by government leaders. If this sounds exciting to you, we encourage you to apply.
